In the end, it’s extra effort that separates a winner from second place.
But winning takes a lot more than that, too.
It starts with complete command of the fundamentals.
Then it takes desire, determination, discipline and self-sacrifice.
And finally, it takes a great deal of love, fairness and respect for your fellow man.
Put all these together, and even if you don’t win, how can you lose?

- Jesse Owens

The Club’s objectives are to provide children and young adults with the opportunity to participate in a soccer experience where they can develop positive self-esteem and build character by learning the virtues of hard work, respect, honesty, self-control, teamwork, competition and sportsmanship.

To achieve these objectives, the Club encourages its coaches and team parents to adopt a philosophy that seeks to achieve the following for the players:

1. To have fun.

2. To develop an appreciation of sportsmanship and the fundamentals of team play.

3. To respect teammates, coaches, opponents, the referee and the laws of the game.

4. To learn the meaning of dedication and commitment and to experience the relationship between effort and results.

5. To learn soccer - individual skills, small group tactics and team tactics, so that each player and his or her team can become the best that they are capable of becoming.

6. To engage in healthy competition.

In 2003, the Club, together with the Recreation Department, adopted the Gold Medal Standards for Youth Sports. The Standards help shape the mission and direction of the Club and the attention that is devoted to players and parents.

The spirit, the will to win and the will to exceed are the things that endure.
- Vince Lombardi
