CYSC COVID 19 FAQs

Is the Fall soccer season definitely taking place?
As of now the WYSL has communicated that there will be a schedule released early September. Games may start later in September than initially expected due to various clubs’ field availability.  Once we know the start date, we will communicate to the club. If games cannot happen we will plan on continuing team practices.

How will water breaks work?
For water breaks during practice, camp and games all players must maintain social distancing. No sharing of water bottles, food or any soccer uniforms.

Can players scrimmage at practice?
All CYSC practices are limited to one team only. The players can scrimmage within their own team.

Can parents carpool?
Carpooling or ride sharing is discouraged by CYSC but is ultimately up to each family. For families who must ride together with no other alternatives, it is suggested that you do so with the same individuals each time. Wear your face cover in the vehicle and maintain social distancing when loading, entering or exiting your vehicle.

Will players need to be tested for COVID prior to playing?
At this time, participants with no known exposure to COVID-19 will not be required to provide written confirmation of COVID-19 negative status from a physician or test.

Will CYSC trainers need to be tested for COVID prior to working with teams?
CYSC has requested that all trainers complete a COVID test with a negative result prior to the start of camp/the season.

Can parents attend practices/games?
Parents and guardians should not congregate together and should follow all social distancing guidelines. Parents and guardians should wear face coverings when they cannot social distance.  In order to avoid large gatherings, CYSC is asking that parents other than the parent chaperone remain in the car during practice/camp drop-off and pickup. Parents should avoid hanging out after the game as other teams will be arriving
Limit 2 guests including family members per player on the sideline during games.

What should I do if I see parents, players or coaches not adhering to COVID protocols?
Any concerns for adherence to guidelines should be reported to a CYSC board member or your team manager.

What should I do if I think my child has been exposed to COVID?

If you suspect that your child has been exposed to COVID-19, do not go to soccer practice, camp or games and seek medical guidance through your family doctor. You must notify your Age Group Coordinator promptly.

Do players and coaches need to wear masks?
All participants (coaches, players, referees) must wear a mask upon arrival, departure and when not physically active during activities. Provided all screening, hygiene and social distancing measures are followed, masks are not mandatory during exertional moments of physical activity.
Parent coaches present on the field during practice or at a game must wear a mask
Trainers must wear a mask if they are not able to maintain social distancing.

Can players use their hands to handle soccer balls?
At this time there are no throw ins.  Goalkeepers must have their own gear (gloves, jerseys).  For goalkeeper training, soccer balls should not be shared. Plan for one soccer ball per goalkeeper. If the goalkeeper is involved in an activity with field players and using his or her hands, use the goalkeeper’s designated ball(s). Players should disinfect soccer balls between practices.

Will equipment be sanitized between practices/games?
Equipment (Balls, cones, any other items touched by players, coaches, referees) should be cleaned before and after each training session.
