McGowan Academic Scholarship fopr Chappaqua Youth Soccer Club
Lisa McGowan, a local Chappaqua resident and mother of two children, was Co-President of the Chappaqua Youth Soccer Club for 17 years. She worked tirelessly to develop the program and make it as successful as it is today. She was instrumental in identifying and hiring many of the technical trainers, establishing the overall mission and bi-laws of the club, orchestrated try-outs for over 400+ children, and had a significant impact of the program and community as as whole. We will always be grateful to Lisa for her work, time and dedication to the program. To honor Lisa's passion and commitment, the Chappaqua Youth Soccer Club Board is offering one male and one female scholarship -- in the amount of $1,500 each -- to be awarded to a Horace Greeley Senior who played for a CYSC team over the years. To be eligible, the senior must:
- Demonstrate leadership both on and off the field
- Have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher over the course of their high school career
- Been a player on the Horace Greeley High School Soccer Team (Varsity, JVA or JVB) for a minimum
of 2 years
- Played with the CYSC program for a minimum of 5 years
In order to be considered for this award, please submit a detailed essay (no more than 750 words) outlining how CYSC helped develop you as a person and a player, along with your high school transcript to [email protected] by Friday May 15, 2026. Two candidates (one male and one female) will be selected by the CYSC Board, and the award recipient(s) will be announced by Friday, June 5, 2026. Payment will be made to the recipient(s) after the board is presented with a bursar bill from an accredited college.
Best of luck to all applicants. GO CYSC!
