2009 through players entering 11th grade in 2023-24, please read the "HS Teams Info" tab.
The Program and Commitment:
  • The program is a 10-month commitment to competitive soccer, running from September through the end of June.  To be eligible, players must be students attending Chappaqua Schools or living in the Town of New Castle.
  • Most of our teams play in the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL), several of our premier teams play in the New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL).
  • All teams will practice with a professional trainer in the Fall and Spring.
  • All teams will play games on Sundays that can take place in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland Counties and New York City. (Teams playing the NYCSL and/or premier level teams may play games on Saturdays and/or Sundays.)
  • Each team will practice for at least two 1.5-hour sessions per week.  Some of our teams opt for a third training session.
  • Most teams will participate in at least one fall tournament and at least one spring tournament.
  • Winter practices and winter game schedules differ by team and are STRONGLY encouraged, but not required.

Cost of the Program
There are several separate components to the program cost:
  • Club registration fees of $275, due upon your acceptance of a spot on the team.  This support’s the club’s overhead (league registration fees, insurance, tryout expenses, field rentals, etc.).
  • Uniforms – the cost of individual pieces varies, but an entirely new uniform kit (all required pieces for practices and games) costs $140 for youth sizes and $146 for adult sizes, plus the shipping cost. Please note, the upcoming 2023-24 season will be the last season in our current kits.  Kits will change for ALL players in the 2024-25 season.
  • The per-player cost to support the team expenses of fall and spring practices, games and tournaments.  This varies by team/age, but runs approximately $1,200-$1,800.  Participation in winter programs is a separate cost.
  • Optional cost of the CYSC Pre-Season Camp (week of August 28). Discounts will be offered to players who enroll at the same time they accept their invitation to play. Over 85% of our players participate in this camp.
Financial aid is available - please see the "Parents" drop-down menu for the financial aid application.

Playing Time Expectations:
Playing time rules for players that regularly attend practices and games and participate in a constructive manner.
  • U9 and U10: Minimum playing time is on average, 40% of each game.
  • U11: Minimum playing time is on average, 25% of each game.
  • U12-U14: Minimum playing time is on average, 25% of each game; but if the team is D1 or Premier, there will be no playing time minimum.
For all age groups, this means that some players will play close to 100% of the game and others will play the minimum amount.

Tryouts:
CYSC will be holding tryouts for their 2023-2024 Travel Teams for interested players born 2010-2015. (2015-born players should also refer to the "Players Born in 2015" tab above).
  • See the "Tryout Schedule" tab above.
  • The tryouts will be monitored by Club-approved trainers and CYSC board members.
  • An absence from a CYSC tryout can only be excused with a doctor's note.
  • PLAYERS WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED TO TRYOUT BY BIRTH YEAR. (As per the USSF, US Club, and the WYSL rules.)
  • All tryout participants must wear a gray or white t-shirt, cleats and shin guards, and bring plenty of water.
  • Current and former CYSC players, as well as current and former players from outside clubs are not permitted to wear any identifiable part of their travel uniforms including their practice jersey to the tryouts.
  • Players should plan to arrive at the field 15 minutes prior to the start of the tryouts to check in and receive a number and a pinny. Parents (and other caregivers) will not be permitted to remain at the tryouts. All tryouts will be DROP OFF.
  • NEW Players (those that didn't play for the 2022/2023 season, including all 2015 birth year players) MUST bring a completed WYSL medical release form.
  • GOALIE TRYOUTS: players with a birth year of 2012 or older and are trying out to be a goalie are expected to be willing to play goalie for the entire game for all games, while those with a 2013 or 2014 birth year are expected to be willing to play goalie 50% of each game. (There will not be goalie tryouts at 2015.) Actual playing time as a goalie will be determined by individual coaches/teams. Goalie tryouts will be held during your child's regular age group tryouts.

Announcement of Teams and Acceptance of your Invitation to Play
  • CYSC will stagger the announcement of teams and intends to announce all U9-U14 teams by the last day of May.
  • Players will have 1 day to accept their invitation to play and pay the non-refundable club registration fee to hold their spot on a team. (Players who fail to accept their invitation during the registration period may risk losing their spot.)
  • The number of teams selected for each age group will depend on the number of players trying out and the caliber of play. The number of teams will also be dependent on the number of players accepting their invitation to play.
  • CYSC is a travel club with teams competing to reach a premier level.  The purpose of the tryouts is to build rosters in each age group that will be competitive and an appropriate size to create an opportunity for a positive player experience.  There is no guarantee there will be more than one team per age group.
  • CYSC CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT ONCE A TEAM IS ANNOUNCED ALL OF THE PLAYERS WILL ACCEPT THEIR INVITATION TO PLAY, AND THEREFORE CAN NOT GUARANTEE THE TEAM WILL EXIST UNTIL ALL OF THE INVITED PLAYERS ACCEPT.
Commitment/brief program description:
  • CYSC is a travel soccer club that competes with teams from other clubs in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and NYC.
  • Our teams are coached by professional trainers.  You can check out some of their profiles under The Teams & Trainers tab above.
  • Your child will play soccer 4 days per week, both on a CYSC team and in AYSO.
  • Our teams are organized by birth year, not by grade.  This is based on a national rule for travel soccer programs.
  • NEW FOR 2023-24: Your child's CYSC travel team will have TWO weekday or weeknight practices with a trainer plus one Sunday travel game (generally half the games are on our home fields, and half are away).
  • The AYSO program involves a Saturday practice and game. AYSO is a requirement to be eligible for CYSC's travel program for the U9 division.  CYSC strongly supports AYSO participation as the extra touches on the ball and the opportunity to put your training into more practice with a different mix of players is an integral part of player development and confidence-building at this age.
  • To be eligible to play for CYSC, your child must be a student attending Chappaqua Schools or living in the Town of New Castle.
  • At the U9 (birth year 2015) level, all registered players will be placed on a team; there will not be cuts.

When can I register for evaluations?
In order to be evaluated, players must register online (see the registration button above).  MAKE CERTAIN YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION.  There is no cost to be evaluated.

What are the program costs?
The CYSC U9 program will cost a $275 registration fees to the club, due upon acceptance to a team, as well as team dues to support the cost of training, games and possibly tournaments. Uniforms are a separate cost.  Players will also be responsible for the cost of their AYSO registration.  Financial aid is available to those who qualify.  Please see the "Program/Tryouts Info" tab for an estimate of costs.
The exact date and time for tryouts for incoming 9th-11th (and including 2009-born 8th graders) will be announced shortly.

The goal of this program is to have competitive level soccer throughout the year, keeping skills high beyond the short fall JV and Varsity season.  Our club high school-aged teams will play in either the New York Club Soccer League or the Westchester Youth Soccer League.  We strive to minimize conflicts with high school sports, recognizing that many of our players are multi-season athletes at Greeley.  This program, however, should not be confused with recreational soccer.  Your commitment to attend as many practices and games as your schedule allows is expected.

The club program could be structured as follows:

Fall Mini-Season:  As the JV/Varsity soccer season at Greeley High School ends in mid-late October, our CYSC club teams will start practicing 2x per week and play a 3-5 game mini-season.

Winter:  Practice at least 1x per week.  We encourage teams to participate in an indoor or futsal league if team availability allows for it.

Spring Full Season:  2 practices during the week (at night) and 8-10 games played mostly on weekends or an occasional Friday night.

Tournaments:  We encourage teams to participate in tournaments, but that will be a team by team decision.

Team age alignment for 2023-24 teams:  We will be able to determine this once tryout registrations are completed.
