Club History
Formally established in 2001, Chappaqua Youth Soccer Club (“CYSC” or the “Club”) traces its origins to the mid- 1980s, when separate and independent Chappaqua organizations developed travel teams to play in the East Hudson Youth Soccer League (“EHYSL”) and the Westchester Youth Soccer League (“WYSL”). At their height, each organization supported only a handful of teams. CYSC was created to bring both organizations together. Now, on an annual basis, CYSC has over 370 players spread across 25 teams, ranging from 8 year-olds to students at Horace Greeley High School (“HGHS”).
The Club strives to operate in cooperation with the Town of New Castle Parks and Recreation Department (the “Recreation Department”), Chappaqua AYSO and the athletic programs of the Chappaqua School District, including the integration of the Club’s programs with the HGHS programs. Additionally, the Club sponsors soccer camps and coach and referee certification courses, makes its equipment and other resources available to the Chappaqua community and promotes athletic development and sportsmanship for children and young adults through a variety of innovative programs.
The Club is a nonprofit corporation organized and administered by Chappaqua parents. CYSC selects, organizes and regulates boys’ and girls’ soccer teams to play in youth soccer leagues and tournaments, and selects the coaches of such teams. Most of our travel teams are registered in the Westchester Youth Soccer League ("WYSL"). A few of our teams are registered in the New York Club Soccer League, which is part of the EDP. Both are regional components of the United States Youth Soccer Association (“USYS”). USYS is a youth affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation ("USSF"), an organization designated by an Act of Congress as the governing body for soccer in the United States.
